London: Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to the Commonwealth, emphasizing its dedication to agendas on youth development, climate resilience, and economic development. The announcement came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey at Marlborough House in London.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar expressed Pakistan’s support for Botchwey’s vision to strengthen the Commonwealth and highlighted Pakistan’s expertise in climate mitigation and disaster management. He proposed that Commonwealth member states could benefit from this experience and renewed Pakistan’s offer to host the Commonwealth Disaster Resilience Hub at the National Disaster Management Authority in Islamabad.

The meeting also focused on enhancing youth-related activities across the Commonwealth, with Pakistan co-chairing the Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting. Dar emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for young people within the organization. Additionally, he briefed Botchwey on Pakistan’s role in facilitating peace efforts between the United States and Iran in the Middle East, which she acknowledged and praised.
