Pakistan President Calls for Collective Action on Earth Day, Urges Environmental Stewardship


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President addressed the nation on Earth Day, emphasizing the urgent need for collective responsibility in tackling environmental challenges. He highlighted the immediate threats posed by climate change and the degradation of natural ecosystems, which have manifested in floods, droughts, and other extreme weather events affecting Pakistan.



According to Press Information Department, the President reiterated his commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. He recalled past initiatives, such as the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme, which included tree plantation drives aimed at creating a greener Pakistan. The President stressed the importance of continuing these efforts by strengthening policies to combat climate change, protect forests, conserve water, and promote renewable energy.



The President urged citizens, communities, and institutions to contribute by planting trees, reducing plastic waste, adopting sustainable practices, and educating the youth on environmental conservation. He underscored the necessity of a cleaner, greener Pakistan as an obligation to future generations, emphasizing that collaborative efforts are essential for building a resilient nation that coexists with nature.
