Pakistan Opens New Aircrew Examination Licensing Center in Islamabad

Islamabad, Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan (Retd), the Prime Minister’s advisor on aviation, inaugurated the new aircrew examination licensing center (North) at Islamabad International Airport (IIAP). The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), including the Secretary and DG CAA, along with representatives from the UK Civil Aviation Authority International (UK CAAi) Mr. Matt Margesson and Mr. Ian Saunders.

According to Press Information Department, the establishment of this new center in Islamabad is a significant development for the aviation sector in Pakistan. Previously, the only center for conducting pilot examinations in collaboration with the UK CAAi and the British Council was in Karachi. The PM’s advisor commended the PCAA and UK CAAi for addressing the high demand for pilot exams from candidates in the Northern region, who previously had to travel to Karachi.

The advisor added that in response to the soaring demand from candidates and to strengthen the country’s aviation sector, a third aircrew licensing facility would be established in Lahore. He noted that these new setups would help resolve many administrative issues and enhance the potential of Pakistan’s aviation sector.

During his visit, the advisor inspected the new facility and observed an ongoing examination where 155 candidates were appearing for tests. He also visited the airport management complex and received a briefing from senior authorities of the PCAA. He expressed deep gratitude to the UK CAAi, the British Council, and the PCAA team for this remarkable development, which marks a significant step in bolstering the aviation infrastructure and capabilities in Pakistan.
