Pakistan Day Marked with Diplomatic Gathering in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: The Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates organized a reception to celebrate Pakistan’s National Day, drawing members of the diplomatic corps, senior UAE officials, and representatives from both the Emirati and Pakistani communities. Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, served as the chief guest. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, was also in attendance.

Traditional musical performances featured national anthems of both Pakistan and the UAE. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi addressed the gathering, reflecting on the historical significance of the Pakistan resolution. He spoke of the nation’s efforts in socio-economic development and highlighted opportunities in areas such as agriculture, cultural heritage, and the rapidly expanding IT sector.

Ambassador Tirmizi called for dialogue to resolve ongoing hostilities in Gaza and reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the Palestinian issue and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, aligning with UN Security Council resolutions. He praised the UAE’s economic progress over the past fifty years under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his successor, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The event also marked the release of a book titled “Sheikh Zayed Maimaar-e-Watan,” authored by Pakistani writer Khan Zaman Suroor. The book serves as a tribute to the UAE’s founding father. Additionally, Pakistani entrepreneur Adnan Niaz was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his significant contributions.
