Pakistan Commits to Regional Peace and Strengthened Ties with Iran


Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has pledged the nation’s continued commitment to fostering peace in the region, emphasizing the importance of strong bilateral relations with Iran. During discussions held in Islamabad with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Sharif affirmed Pakistan’s support for Tehran, highlighting the enduring brotherhood between the two countries.



According to Radio Pakistan, the talks underlined Pakistan’s role in mediating regional conflicts, with Sharif acknowledging the efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who played a crucial part in achieving a ceasefire and facilitating the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States. The MoU, brokered with the assistance of various countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, was signed in Sharif’s capacity as mediator.



The discussions also focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and reconstruction. Sharif expressed Pakistan’s determination to strengthen ties across multiple sectors and work collaboratively with Iran for mutual advantages. Both nations aim to leverage their strengths to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the broader Middle East, Gulf region, and South Asia.
