Islamabad: Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), in coordination with the Zakat Foundation of America (ZFA), has launched a new initiative focused on enhancing digital skills among women. The program, aimed at teachers and students from PBM’s Women Empowerment Centres (WEC), seeks to boost participants’ confidence and motivation through updated market knowledge and skills. Certificates were awarded to participants by PBM Managing Director Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt and ZFA Country Head Dr. Fazal-ur-Rahman at a recent ceremony in Islamabad.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the Managing Director of PBM underscored the importance of investing in women’s education and training. He highlighted PBM’s role as a crucial social safety net in Pakistan, noting its origins under former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in 1991. The organization’s Women Empowerment Centers, numbering 165 nationwide, are central to providing skill development training to women, with 13,000 currently engaged and 341,000 having completed training to date.
Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt commended the Zakat Foundation of America’s humanitarian efforts and expressed gratitude for their collaboration in promoting women’s empowerment. He emphasized the need for continued joint ventures to support vulnerable populations.
Dr. Fazal-ur-Rahman, Country Head of ZFA, highlighted the workshop’s role in cultivating digital skills and acknowledged PBM’s initiatives for the underprivileged. He expressed a commitment to strengthening the partnership to further aid those in need.
