Karachi: The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has signed a significant contract to install Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) on fishing vessels in Pakistan. This strategic move aims to enhance the safety of fishermen, improve maritime awareness, and support sustainable management of marine resources.
According to Radio Pakistan, the contract signing ceremony took place at the PMSA Headquarters in Karachi. The event was attended by the Secretary Defence, retired Lt Gen Muhammad Ali, as the chief guest, alongside representatives from federal and provincial governments and stakeholders in the maritime sector.
The installation of the VMS is expected to strengthen the monitoring capabilities within Pakistan’s maritime zones, thereby contributing to the effective protection of national maritime interests. This initiative marks a crucial step in advancing the country’s maritime security infrastructure.
