Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have committed to enhancing their economic partnership, focusing on mutual interests and deepening their longstanding bilateral relationship. This commitment was articulated during a meeting in Islamabad between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott.
According to Radio Pakistan, Finance Minister Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening economic cooperation with the United Kingdom through sustained reforms, investment facilitation, and engagement with international development partners. He expressed appreciation for the UK’s ongoing technical support in areas such as population management and public health.
The Minister emphasized the importance of institutionalizing population planning with a coordinated national framework, advocating for international best practices to enhance women’s education and workforce participation. He stressed that collaboration in these areas is essential for improving Pakistan’s human development outcomes and supporting sustainable economic growth.
High Commissioner Jane Marriott acknowledged Pakistan’s progress in achieving macroeconomic stability and reiterated the UK’s support for Pakistan’s reform agenda. Both officials recognized the longstanding partnership between their countries across various sectors, including economic governance, fiscal reforms, climate resilience, public finance, health, and social development.
