Karachi’s Development Plans Focus on Construction Sector’s Role, Says Mayor’s Spokesperson

Karachi: The construction sector’s active involvement is crucial for Karachi’s sustainable urban development, stated Karamullah Waqasi, spokesperson to the Mayor of Karachi. Highlighting the sector’s pivotal role, he emphasized that the Government of Sindh and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) are committed to modernizing the city’s infrastructure through comprehensive planning.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab recently held a productive meeting with the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), discussing ongoing development projects. The dialogue focused on promoting the construction sector, enhancing urban infrastructure, and improving civic facilities in Karachi.

Waqasi noted that the construction industry is vital to Pakistan’s economy, generating employment and fostering urban development. The Government of Sindh and KMC prioritize the development of modern infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and drainage systems, to enhance public services and improve citizens’ quality of life.

The spokesperson also mentioned efforts to uplift informal settlements and address traffic congestion, with proposals for modern parking plazas to ease urban challenges. Collaboration with the private sector, particularly ABAD, is seen as essential for implementing sustainable development projects.

Emphasizing the city’s transformation under Mayor Wahab’s leadership, Waqasi reaffirmed the commitment to utilizing all resources for Karachi’s progress, aiming to establish it as a modern metropolitan hub with world-class civic amenities.
