Pakistan and Turkiye Sign Agreement to Enhance Cooperation on Women’s Rights and Social Services

Islamabad: Pakistan and Turkiye have strengthened their commitment to advancing women’s rights and social services through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Turkiye’s Minister for Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Gökta, and Pakistan’s Minister for Human Rights, Azam Nazeer Tarar, held in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ministers discussed a range of issues, including the strengthening of the family system and the promotion of social security. Both sides expressed their intent to enhance cooperation in protecting the family system, promoting children’s and women’s rights, and initiating joint policy measures in the digital domain.

The countries agreed to consolidate efforts in family welfare, social security, and institutional cooperation. The meeting also highlighted the importance of sharing experiences and advancing joint projects between the two nations.

In a separate meeting, Azam Nazeer Tarar met with Jalila Allahverdiyeva, the Head of the Administrative Division of the OIC Labour Centre from Azerbaijan. Tarar emphasized the role of Islam in granting women respect, equality, and fundamental rights, urging the Muslim Ummah to uphold these principles. The discussions focused on promoting joint ventures to empower women and improve social security and capacity-building under the OIC platform.
