Islamabad: A delegation led by Kadir Özkaya, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, met with Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Law and Justice and Human Rights, to discuss enhancing cooperation in constitutional law and judicial reforms. The high-level meeting, also attended by other key officials, focused on sharing experiences and best practices between the two countries.
According to Press Information Department: The discussions emphasized strengthening institutional frameworks and refining judicial appointment mechanisms. The Pakistani delegation provided insights into their judicial appointment system under specific constitutional articles. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in court administration, exchange of best practices, and capacity building.
Considerable attention was given to digital transformation initiatives, including Case Management Systems and Document Retrieval Systems, aimed at improving institutional efficiency and public access to laws. The dialogue also explored alternative dispute resolution methods like mediation to address case backlogs.
During a joint press conference, Kadir Özkaya expressed optimism about Türkiye’s efforts in refugee rights protection and praised Pakistan’s steps towards establishing a constitutional court. Senator Tarar highlighted the Ministry of Law and Justice’s pivotal role and recent technological advancements in the justice sector, including a real-time case update system. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing legal and judicial cooperation.
