Islamabad: Pakistan and Syria have reached an agreement to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as concluded during delegation-level discussions held in Islamabad. The talks, which involved Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, focused on reinforcing the longstanding ties between the two nations.
According to Radio Pakistan, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions covering regional and international developments, including issues related to Palestine, the Golan Heights, Afghanistan, the situation in South Asia, and developments in the Middle East. Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, the Syrian Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in regional peace efforts, highlighting the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and Pakistan’s efforts towards de-escalation in the US-Iran context. The meeting concluded with both nations affirming their commitment to ongoing engagement and cooperation for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.
