Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:A pivotal discussion on bolstering bilateral trade relations between Pakistan and Russia unfolded as H.E. Danila V. Ganich, the Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, met with Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, at the Commerce Ministry today, as per a press release by PID. The meeting illuminated both nations’ commitment to intensify cooperation with the goal of escalating the volume of bilateral trade, reflecting a mutual interest to solidify the ongoing friendship and economic partnership.
For the fiscal year 2022-23, Pakistan and Russia’s total trade accounted for US$ 920 million; with Pakistan’s exports and imports from Russia amounting to US$ 74 million and US$ 846 million, respectively. Products such as citrus fruit, leather apparel, ready-made garments, and woven cotton fabrics were among the goods exported to Russia, while imports included wheat, meslin, and bituminous coal.
The Commerce minister, appreciating the upward trajectory in bilateral trade, confirmed Pakistan’s dedication to nurturing an environment conducive to formidable economic cooperation. Highlighting another stride toward realizing the potential of trade ties between Pakistan and Russia, Dr. Ejaz proclaimed, “Our discussions today have set the stage for a brighter economic partnership with Russia. We look forward to expanding trade, opening up new avenues for cooperation, and further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship between our two countries.”
