Islamabad: In a significant development for Pakistan-Croatia relations, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, welcomed Dr. Gordan Grlic Radman, Croatia’s Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, marking the first high-level visit from Croatia to Pakistan in years. The visit underscores the intent to strengthen relations between the two countries through increased political and economic collaboration.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions between the two parties were described as warm and constructive, covering a broad range of topics including trade, investment, and labor mobility. Both sides acknowledged the untapped potential in their bilateral trade and expressed commitment to revitalizing economic relations, potentially through a B2B trade forum. The meeting also emphasized cooperation in areas such as agriculture, education, defense, and climate change.
A key focus was placed on making the Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Political Consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries fully operational. The first round of these consultations is proposed for either late 2026 or early 2027. Additionally, efforts to expedite the opening of a Croatian visa processing facility in Islamabad were discussed, aiming to ease the visa process for Pakistani citizens.
The meeting also addressed international issues, including the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the conflict between the US and Iran, and the security situation in Afghanistan. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of disputes, highlighting a shared commitment to international cooperation and security.
The visit by Dr. Radman, coming after attending a NATO meeting in Ankara, is seen as a step forward in enhancing the bilateral relationship and fostering mutual prosperity for both countries.
