BEIJING: Pakistan and China have agreed to bolster their bilateral partnership with a focus on practical, results-oriented cooperation and accelerated implementation of joint projects. This development was announced following a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing, marking the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
According to Radio Pakistan, the leaders reviewed the Pakistan-China relationship, expressing satisfaction with the steady growth in political, economic, strategic, and security cooperation. They also reiterated their support on core issues of mutual interest and highlighted the transformative impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Pakistan’s socio-economic development. The leaders expressed eagerness to implement the next phase of CPEC projects.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of utilizing the 75th anniversary to transform the historical goodwill into tangible outcomes, aligning China’s 15th Five-Year Plan with Pakistan’s development framework, Uraan Pakistan. He reassured the firm commitment to ensure the security of Chinese nationals and institutions in Pakistan and underscored the need for enhanced collaboration in emerging sectors such as space, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies.
The meeting concluded with Prime Minister Sharif extending gratitude to Premier Li for the warm reception and reaffirming the strategic partnership as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy, rooted in mutual trust and a shared commitment to peace and development.
