Pakistan Advances Plans for Global Tech Facility to Enhance Disaster Resilience


Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar led a high-level discussion focused on the creation of the Joint Pak Global Tech Facility at the National Emergencies Operation Centre, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to improving its disaster resilience strategies. The meeting, hosted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), was aimed at advancing the country’s capabilities in disaster readiness and response through technological innovations.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting included a briefing by NDMA’s Chairman, who elaborated on the role of the National Emergencies Operation Centre in disaster monitoring and response. The Chairman also discussed the NDMA’s Next Generation Technology project and the envisioned establishment of a Global Resilience Hub, which aims to foster international partnerships for proactive disaster management.



Senator Dar emphasized the importance of enhancing Pakistan’s disaster resilience, particularly in light of the climate change challenges the country faces. He advocated for leveraging artificial intelligence and digital technologies to transition from reactive disaster response to a focus on early warning and preparedness. The Deputy Prime Minister called for effective and coordinated implementation of the plans discussed.



The meeting saw participation from key figures including Dr. Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Lt. General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman NDMA, and other senior officials from various governmental departments.
