OIC Special Representative Reaffirms Support for Kashmir Cause, Denounces India’s Actions

Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:In a dialogue centered on the multifaceted Kashmir dispute, Yousef Aldobeay, the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Jammu and Kashmir, asserted that the issue of Kashmir encompasses not just the interests of Kashmiris and Pakistan, but holds substantial relevance for the entire Muslim world.

A press release from Kashmir Media Service (KMS) detailed Aldobeay’s interaction with the All Party Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter delegation at the Foreign Office. Aldobeay underscored the OIC’s unwavering support for the Kashmir cause and encouraged Kashmiris to maintain patience and hope in their justified pursuit of self-determination. He noted Pakistan’s efforts against Islamophobia and criticized actions by the Indian government in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the destruction of mosques and massacre of Muslims as a manifestation of Islamophobia. The OIC has consistently rejected the measures implemented on August 5, 2019, in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir by the Indian government led by Modi and persistently demands India to rescind its unilateral and illicit actions.

Convener Mahmood Ahmad Sagar of the APHC-AJK chapter briefed Aldobeay and other members of the OIC delegation on the current situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and elucidated various aspects of India-Israel collaboration against Muslims. APHC-AJK leaders apprised the OIC delegation of the political, diplomatic, and economic perspectives of the Kashmir liberation movement and shared insights into the predicaments faced by illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists.
