ISLAMABAD, In his message on World AIDS Day, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf, highlighted the vital role of communities in the fight against AIDS. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts at the community level, access to health services for marginalized populations, and the eradication of stigma and discrimination associated with AIDS in Pakistan.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Speaker Ashraf expressed a firm commitment to improving the quality of life for those affected by HIV. He noted the comprehensive health, nutrition, and support service packages being offered under national social security programs to protect the health of HIV-affected individuals.
The Speaker stressed the need for intensified efforts to change negative perceptions about the disease, train health personnel, and strengthen institutional infrastructure. He urged the nation to use past successes and challenges as a guide to make Pakistan HIV-free.
Speaker Ashraf reminded that World AIDS Day is observed on December 1st annually to raise awareness of one of the deadliest diseases in human history. He emphasized the necessity of national-level awareness to combat this disease, which has claimed at least two and a half million lives worldwide.
