Mushaal Hussein Mullick Raises Alarm Over Husband Yasin Malik’s Health in Indian Custody

Islamabad, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, has expressed grave concerns over the rapidly declining health of her husband, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), who is currently incarcerated in India’s Tihar jail.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mushaal Mullick issued a statement in Islamabad detailing the critical health condition of Yasin Malik. She asserted that his health has reached an alarming state as he has ceased taking medications to protest against the authorities’ delay in providing him proper medical care, despite having court orders to do so.

Mullick disclosed that the pacemaker installed in Malik has expired and become ineffective, thereby posing a serious risk to his life. In addition to cardiac complications, she mentioned that Malik is also suffering from a kidney condition, and reports confirm a significant decline in his body weight, amplifying the severity of the situation.

She highlighted the recent actions of Malik’s mother, who approached a Delhi court seeking immediate attention to her son’s deteriorating health and offered to bear the costs for his medical treatment. Despite her appeals and court directives for medical supervision, Malik was reportedly returned to jail following a superficial checkup after being briefly taken to a hospital on February 13 when his health worsened.

Mullick has urgently called upon international human rights organizations to step in and ensure the wellbeing and safety of Yasin Malik, a prominent political leader advocating for Jammu and Kashmir’s freedom.
