Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Awami Action Committee (AAC), led by senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, expressed grief over the passing of Advocate Raja Jahangir Khan.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Advocate Jahangir Ali Khan, a prominent figure in Kathidarwaza Raja Mohalla Srinagar, passed away during the intervening night of January 13-14, 2025, at the age of 72. He was the son of the late Raja Mohammad Ayub Khan, a former General Secretary of the AAC. Despite his health issues, Raja Jahangir had remained engaged in social and public welfare work after stepping away from his law practice.
In a condolence statement in Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and AAC leadership honored Advocate Jahangir’s contributions, emphasizing his family’s longstanding commitment to the AAC’s mission. They recalled Raja Mohammad Ayub’s efforts under the leadership of the organisation’s founder, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, in promoting the AAC’s cause.
“The deceased’s family, including Advocate Raja Jahangir, made commendable contributions to advancing the public welfare and social mission of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir,” stated the AAC.
The AAC extended sympathies to Advocate Jahangir’s son, Advocate Raja Sajid Ali Khan, and the bereaved family. They offered prayers for Allah’s mercy on the departed soul and solace for the family.
A high-level AAC delegation visited the deceased’s residence to convey Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s condolences, solidarity, and support personally.
