Mehbooba Mufti Accuses India of Achieving Peace in Kashmir Through Repression

Srinagar, At a large public gathering in Budgam, organized by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), party president Mehbooba Mufti condemned the Indian government’s approach to handling the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), accusing it of enforcing peace through repressive measures.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti, while addressing the rally, emphasized that the PDP remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguard the future and rights of the people of IIOJK despite facing significant pressure. “Our party was targeted, our leaders were grilled, raided, and the party was broken using different tactics, but thousands of our workers stood firm and did not bow down,” Mufti stated. She highlighted the use of draconian laws like the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various repressive tactics aimed at silencing dissent and disempowering the local population since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Mufti also spoke about the continuous directives issued from Delhi aimed at disenfranchising the people of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the PDP would continue to fight these injustices through peaceful and democratic means. She urged the people to vote for a party that would boldly represent their interests and promised to raise their issues in Parliament if elected.
