Srinagar, The President of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Javid Ahmad Tenga, has expressed deep concern over the escalating power crisis in the Kashmir Valley.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Javid Ahmad Tenga in a statement in Srinagar said, despite assurances from the occupation authorities, the situation has not only failed to improve but has, in fact, worsened, plunging the territory into prolonged darkness. He expressed astonishment at the authorities’ apparent failure to grasp the severity of the situation.
“The decision to procure insufficient power has led to an unprecedented crisis in Kashmir. Despite assurances, the Valley faces power shortages, exposing a gap of over 800 MW in electricity supply, resulting in extended power cuts that severely impact the daily lives of the people,” he said.
Tenga highlighted the impact of the prolonged power outages on the business landscape and crucial sectors, including healthcare. “The pervasive power crisis is affecting everyday life in Kashmir, necessitating immediate attention and redressal,” he said.
It is worth mentioning here that for the last couple of months, occupied Kashmir has been facing the worst the power crisis, leaving citizens grappling with prolonged blackouts and enduring severe hardships. The people are openly blaming the incompetence of the occupation authorities in addressing this crisis.
The smart meters installed by the authorities were meant to bring relief but they exacerbate the woes of the people and the Indian government is exploiting the situation and burdening the citizens of IIOJK. The promises made by the Modi regime regarding round the clock power supply through smart meters have proven to be nothing more than a facade, unmasking a harsh reality of increased tariffs and darkness. The people of occupied Kashmir are being betrayed by the false claims of normalcy, peace and prosperity especially after 5 August 2019 which have proved to be nothing but a political gimmick of BJP. The situation has led to massive protests in IIOJK.
