Bengaluru, The Federation of Karnataka Truck Owners Association in Bengaluru has announced an indefinite strike commencing on January 17. The strike is in protest against the new hit-and-run law introduced by the authorities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Naveen Reddy, the President of the Federation of Karnataka Truck Owners Association, confirmed the decision following a meeting among association members. The meeting focused on the implications of the new hit-and-run law and culminated in the decision to launch an indefinite strike.
In addition to opposing the new law, the association has put forward other demands. They include concerns over the seizure of trucks in the event of accidents and the subsequent efforts to retrieve them. The association members have expressed dissatisfaction with the imposition of fines under the guise of reducing unnecessary traffic congestion.
The strike by the truck owners in Karnataka highlights the growing discontent among transporters regarding recent regulatory changes and their impact on the transport industry. The decision to strike indefinitely signals a significant escalation in their response to these changes.
