KARACHI: In a recent announcement, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab declared that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will collaborate with the Arts Council of Pakistan to organize the World Culture Festival. The event, set to be hosted under the Arts Council’s auspices, will see KMC providing venues such as Frere Hall and Burns Garden, alongside support in municipal services, road management, and advertising. This partnership was confirmed during a meeting with Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council of Pakistan, attended by municipal and finance officials.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Barrister Wahab emphasized the significance of hosting an international cultural program in Karachi, citing it as an honor for the city. He highlighted the role of such festivals in showcasing Karachi’s cultural identity and providing a platform for international artists. The Mayor assured that the KMC and his office are committed to supporting public-oriented events within the city.

Mayor Wahab further stated that the World Culture Festival presents a significant opportunity for Karachi’s residents to engage in cultural and recreational activities. To ensure the event’s success, he instructed continuous coordination between KMC officers and the Arts Council regarding festival preparations. This includes directing key officials to finalize arrangements for the necessary municipal facilities.

He concluded by stressing the collaboration of all relevant institutions in promoting cultural activities in Karachi, with a focus on ensuring that the World Culture Festival is a memorable event for the city.
