Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has taken action following the theft of steel bars from the Nazimabad Underpass, directing the Engineering Department to start immediate restoration work and expedite its completion. The restoration efforts have been initiated by the relevant department as per the Mayor’s instructions.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized that any acts of vandalism against public infrastructure will not be tolerated. He highlighted the importance of safeguarding flyovers, underpasses, and other essential structures built for public convenience. The Mayor pointed out that damaging or stealing components of public and government property not only causes inconvenience to citizens but also hampers the functionality of development projects.

The Mayor instructed the Engineering Department to adhere to the timeline for the Nazimabad Underpass restoration and maintain the quality of work. He also recommended seeking assistance from law enforcement agencies to ensure the protection of public assets, in an effort to deter such activities.

Mayor Wahab further directed officials to assess all critical infrastructure throughout the city and enhance security measures where necessary. He reiterated the commitment of municipal institutions to provide safe and improved transportation facilities to citizens, emphasizing that negligence in protecting public projects would not be tolerated.
