Karachi, In an effort to address the persistent sewage problems in Liaquatabad, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced the commencement of a significant sewerage system rehabilitation project from Teen Hatti to Dak Khana Liaquatabad. The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, representatives from the political and civic leadership, and other elected officials from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the Central District, marks a pivotal step towards enhancing the infrastructure of Karachi.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized the importance of young and innovative thinking in driving Karachi forward. He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made to the residents of Karachi, highlighting the initiation of the sewerage project as a testament to this pledge. The project, valued at approximately 370 million rupees, involves laying pipelines of 36 and 42 inches diameter over a one-kilometer stretch from Teen Hatti to Liaquatabad Dakkhana. Upon completion, it will divert sewage directly to Treatment Plant S-III via the Lyari river, addressing the overflow issues in the area and providing a sustainable solution till 2050.
Mayor Wahab also mentioned the broader commitment of the PPP to work across all towns and districts of Karachi under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, regardless of the electoral outcomes. He cited the sewerage project as an example of the party’s dedication to service without discrimination, aiming to improve the living conditions of Karachi’s residents.
Furthermore, the Mayor outlined the Sindh Assembly’s oath-taking ceremony, expressing confidence in a “Jiyala” being appointed as Chief Minister, and reiterated the administration’s nonpartisan approach to serving the city. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance water supply and treatment facilities, including water recycling and desalination projects, as part of a comprehensive strategy to address Karachi’s infrastructure challenges.
The sewerage project in Liaquatabad is part of a larger initiative by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to revitalize the city’s infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents, promising a brighter and more sustainable future for Karachi.
