Karachi, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced a shift from the politics of fear and criticism to a focus on development and progress in the city. Speaking at the inauguration of the first fly zip line in Karachi’s Safari Park, Wahab emphasized the city’s efforts to solve problems using available resources, marking a significant turn in Karachi’s political and developmental landscape.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Mayor’s speech highlighted the recent achievements in the city, including the inauguration of the fly zip line and the upcoming introduction of horse riding in the Safari Park. He also mentioned the establishment of Karachi’s first Dino Safari Park, reflecting the city’s commitment to improving recreational facilities. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, General Secretary of People’s Party Central District Dil Muhammad, and other leaders.
Mayor Wahab spoke about the transformation of Safari Park from a state of disrepair, citing the park’s revival as an example of the city’s rejuvenation under the current administration. He referred to the PPP government’s development works across seven districts of Karachi, including the recent inauguration of Iqbal Park and the State of the Art Star Sports Complex in Sherpao Colony Landhi. Plans for additional playgrounds and parks in the city were also revealed, aimed at providing peaceful recreational spaces for residents.
Addressing a recent fire incident at RJ Mall, Mayor Wahab criticized the response of Faisal Cantonment’s staff and highlighted the efforts of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s fire brigade and rescue 1122 staff in extinguishing the fire. He stressed the need for clarity regarding the administrative responsibilities of different areas in the city.
Furthermore, the Mayor commented on an unfortunate incident during the fire where an unconscious person was allegedly moved between ambulances by different rescue services. He condemned this act as seeking cheap fame rather than genuine service and expressed his intention to discuss the matter with the management of the involved services.
Mayor Wahab’s remarks underscored his commitment to the development and prosperity of Karachi, moving away from a politics of suppression to one of constructive growth and community enhancement.
