Islamabad: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, along with other senior officials, engaged in a comprehensive discussion with the All Pakistan Bedsheets and Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA) to address key challenges and opportunities in the home-textiles export sector. The meeting focused on export marketing, branding, market access, and trade financing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
According to Press Information Department, the APBUMA delegation, consisting of several industry leaders, briefed the Minister on their initiatives to enhance the international presence of Pakistan’s SMEs and boost export growth. The association highlighted the participation of 15 member companies in the upcoming Home Textile Sourcing exhibition in Los Angeles and requested government support for effective business-to-business interactions.
The Minister assured that Trade and Investment Officers in the United States would assist APBUMA members at the exhibition to foster collaboration with global brands. APBUMA also proposed hosting international exhibitions like Heimtextil in Pakistan to increase global visibility and attract investment.
Minister Khan praised the private sector’s efforts and emphasized the importance of engaging with foreign buyers to improve Pakistan’s brand and expand exports. He reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing financing issues through the State Bank and EXIM Bank of Pakistan, particularly for SMEs. Additionally, concerns over yarn bag costs were acknowledged, with the Minister promising to address the issue with relevant authorities.
