Islamabad: Pakistan marked the International Day of Living Together in Peace, reaffirming its commitment to fostering national and international harmony. The observance underscores the country’s dedication to building peaceful societies, a vision rooted in its constitutional principles.
According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the nation’s dedication to peaceful coexistence and equality, drawing from the principles articulated by the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The government is steadfast in its efforts to ensure a cohesive society, free from discrimination based on race, ethnicity, or religion.
The government has also implemented policies such as the “National Action Plan on Human Rights” and the “National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights” to promote women’s empowerment, child protection, and responsible business practices. These initiatives are supported by the “Human Rights Awareness Programme,” which advocates for tolerance and social cohesion.
Furthermore, the establishment of the National Commission for Human Rights and District Human Rights Committees aims to enhance social harmony. Legal reforms, including the “ICT Domestic Violence Prevention and Protection Act 2026” and the “ICT Child Marriage Restraint Act 2025,” demonstrate the government’s commitment to eliminating harmful social practices.
The Prime Minister called on youth, religious leaders, and civil society to champion the values of tolerance and coexistence, emphasizing the collective responsibility to cultivate a peaceful and united Pakistan.
