Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with H.E Shaikh Yousef Hassan Khalawi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), to examine potential areas of economic collaboration, including halal markets, Islamic finance, and private-sector cooperation.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting aimed to strengthen connections between Pakistan’s business community and international networks facilitated by the ICCD. The Finance Minister highlighted opportunities for greater engagement through the Chamber’s global platforms. Mr. Khalawi discussed the Chamber’s efforts to link Muslim business communities globally and promote halal economic cooperation.
The discussion included the expanding global halal economy and Pakistan’s prospects in sectors such as halal food, fashion, and tourism. The Finance Minister stressed the need for Pakistani businesses to focus on specific products and sectors to leverage emerging opportunities. Additionally, the meeting addressed enhancing Pakistan’s Islamic finance ecosystem and improving market linkages.
Mr. Khalawi shared insights on halal business development and Islamic economic cooperation, underscoring the need to identify sector-specific opportunities and understand international market demands. The participants also considered the role of international conferences and forums in strengthening ties between Pakistani and global business communities.
Senator Aurangzeb acknowledged the Islamic Chamber’s role in engaging with Pakistan and emphasized ongoing interaction with the business community to uncover practical collaboration opportunities, encouraging stronger links between Pakistani and international business networks.
