Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police, under the directives of Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, has intensified its efforts to curb lane violations and other traffic infringements across the capital. The campaign has led to legal actions against over 8,000 motorcyclists and the impounding of 4,181 motorcycles for serious violations.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the intensified crackdown is part of a broader initiative to enhance road safety and protect citizens from potential accidents. The campaign has seen 11,570 motorcyclists checked, with cases registered against 269 riders for severe breaches of traffic rules. The focus is on preventing lane violations, one-wheeling, and riding without helmets, which have been identified as significant threats to public safety.
Chief Traffic Officer Virk highlighted the dual approach of strict enforcement and public awareness to ensure compliance with traffic laws. A road safety awareness campaign has educated 25,813 citizens on traffic regulations and safe driving practices. Social media platforms are also being utilized to spread the message widely, encouraging citizens to adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with authorities to enhance road safety.
