Islamabad, Pakistan Government Allocates Record Funds for Development and Defense in Federal Budget


Islamabad, In a significant move to boost national development and security, the Pakistan government has allocated an unprecedented 1400 billion rupees for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and 2122 billion rupees for defense in the latest federal budget.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, while presenting the budgetary proposals in the National Assembly, highlighted that the total development budget would reach a historic level of 1500 billion rupees, thanks to an additional 100 billion rupees through public-private partnerships.



The budget also includes substantial allocations for civil administration and pensions, totaling 839 billion rupees and 1,014 billion rupees respectively, with 1,363 billion rupees earmarked for subsidies in electricity, gas, and other sectors. Furthermore, the government has set aside 1,777 billion rupees for grants aimed at various sectors including the Benazir Income Support Programme, and initiatives in AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan, merged districts, as well as for the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Railways, and the IT sector.
