Islamabad, 11 Oct 2023:A determined crackdown against criminal elements in the city has resulted in the arrest of 19 outlaws, including seven professional baggers, and the seizure of notable quantities of drugs, weapons, and ammunition over the last 24 hours, as per a press release from the Public Relations Officer of the Islamabad Capital Police. The intensified operation comes following specific directives from Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, aiming to eradicate criminal activities and enhance the safety and security within the city.
A series of coordinated actions by various police teams across the city brought multiple accused individuals into custody. In particular instances, the Aabpara police team arrested Irfan Baig and Farhan Ali, recovering 30 litres of liquor. The Secretariat police apprehended Nahid Akhtar and Sultan Khan, confiscating 965 grams of heroin. Further, the Kohsar police took Yasir Masih into custody, seizing 620 grams of heroin, while the Ramna police arrested Asad Khan, with 880 grams of hashish found in his possession.
The crackdown extended into other areas as the Golra police apprehended Faiz Ali Shah and Awais, implicating them in illegal gas refilling activities, and the Sihala police arrested Nazakat Hussain, recovering 250 grams of heroin. Additionally, the Bhara Kahu police team arrested Fahim Ahmed, confiscating one 30 bore pistol and ammunition, while the Nilore police took Nasir and Aamir Khan into custody, recovering two 30 bore pistols.
A noteworthy focus of the operation was on professional baggers, with seven being arrested during the crackdown. The Islamabad Capital Police have registered cases against the accused, and investigations are currently ongoing.
In light of the operations, ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan emphasized the unwavering stance of the police, asserting that “Safety and security of the citizens is our foremost priority and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard”. He has directed police officials to maintain and enhance the intensity of the crackdown against criminal elements in the subsequent days.
