Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, in a joint news conference with Minister for States and Frontier Regions Engineer Amir Muqam, has condemned the use of indecent language by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders towards state institutions and the Punjab Government.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Tarar criticized PTI’s recent actions and rhetoric, describing them as a result of frustration following their poor performance at a public gathering in Islamabad, which he labeled a failure despite significant support from the provincial machinery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He accused the PTI of resorting to mudslinging due to its rejection by the public and alleged that the party is foreign-funded and part of a “Zionist lobby,” citing a story in the Times of Israel and statements by the late Dr. Israr Ahmed.
Further, Tarar alleged that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has not initiated any major development projects and is merely safeguarding a “commission mafia,” contributing to internal rifts within PTI and eroding public trust in its leadership. He urged the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to address terrorism and collaborate with the federal government and armed forces instead of engaging in hostile rhetoric.
Minister Muqam echoed these sentiments, criticizing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for poor governance and misuse of public funds, particularly in financing political activities in Islamabad. He also called for an investigation into the use of provincial funds for political purposes and condemned the derogatory language used by PTI leaders at their political rally.
The news conference also addressed concerns about the treatment of journalists by PTI leaders, with Minister Tarar denouncing the abusive language directed at media personnel, especially women, and reaffirming his support for the journalistic community in facing such challenges.
