Islamabad: More than a year after the conflict known as Marka-e-Haq, tensions between India and Pakistan continue to simmer as Pakistan criticizes a newly released Indian documentary on the so-called Operation Sindoor. The documentary, featuring interviews with senior Indian political and military figures, is accused by Pakistan of presenting a dramatized and factually inaccurate portrayal of the events.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, the documentary contains significant contradictions and inaccuracies, particularly in its narrative connecting a speech by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff on April 16, 2025, to the Pahalgam incident on April 22, 2025. Pakistan questions India’s claims of punishing those responsible for Pahalgam through Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, when it later stated that the alleged perpetrators were eliminated on July 28, 2025.
The documentary’s assertion of “100 percent mission success” in Operation Sindoor is challenged by Pakistan, which claims its forces successfully countered Indian aggression during Marka-e-Haq, reportedly downing eight Indian military aircraft and launching a counter-operation named Bunyanum Marsoos. This operation allegedly targeted 26 Indian military sites with precision-guided munitions.
The documentary’s portrayal of the conflict’s conclusion is also disputed. It reportedly acknowledges the cessation of hostilities was achieved through communication between the two nations’ Directors General of Military Operations and facilitated by the United States, contradicting claims of a unilateral Indian victory.
Pakistan criticizes the documentary’s narrative, suggesting it is crafted for domestic consumption rather than providing an objective military account. The documentary’s claims of escalation management and conflict limitation by India are viewed as inconsistent, further diminishing its credibility.
Pakistan asserts it does not need to fabricate a narrative around Marka-e-Haq, citing operational records and diplomatic exchanges as evidence of its account of events. The country reiterates its commitment to regional peace and stability, while also affirming its readiness to defend its sovereignty.
