Indian Police Raid Homes in Bandipora District Over Alleged Militant Links

Srinagar: Indian police today conducted a series of searches across the Bandipora district in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The operations targeted the residences of individuals suspected of being Over Ground Workers (OGWs) linked to banned organizations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the raids were part of an investigation into alleged affiliations with the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) and the Jammu and Kashmir People’s League. Police officials reported that searches were executed at the homes of Bashir Ahmad Butt in Butt Mohalla Sumbal and Sajad Ahmad Nawoo in Naidkhai. Both individuals are under scrutiny with FIRs registered against them at the Sumbal Police Station.

Further operations were conducted at the residences of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh in Bagh Bandipora and Ghulam Mohammad Waza in Ward 04, Plan Bandipora. Both men are also suspected of being OGWs. Additional searches took place in Vigpara, connected to a separate FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The raids reflect the ongoing efforts by Indian authorities to clamp down on activities deemed illegal under the UAPA, targeting those suspected of supporting banned militant groups.
