ISLAMABAD: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, conducted a thorough review of security arrangements in preparation for Muharram-ul-Haram, focusing on the deployment of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) personnel. The meetings, which extended late into the night, included discussions with key officials such as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq and AIG Operations/SSP CTD Saud Khan.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the review encompassed field deployments and measures to protect citizens during Muharram-ul-Haram. The IGP issued directives to senior officers to leverage all available resources for a secure environment. He later visited key sites, including Imambargah Asna Ashri in G-6/2 and Imambargah Babul Ilm in I-8, to inspect security arrangements and provide further instructions.
The IGP emphasized the importance of foolproof security, continuous monitoring of processions and gatherings through modern systems, and special arrangements at key religious sites. He stressed the use of modern technology and coordination with relevant institutions to address any emergencies promptly. The directive also made it clear that negligence in duty would not be tolerated.
