IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Reviews Six-Month Performance of Police Tahaffuz Marakaz

Lahore, 11 Oct 2023:A comprehensive review of the performance of Police Tahaffuz Marakaz (PTM) Mandi Bahauddin, covering a span of six months, was conducted at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar. The team from Mandi Bahauddin Police reported that PTM Mandi Bahauddin offered policing and social welfare services to 881 citizens, also establishing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with seven social welfare organizations to expedite relief to citizens experiencing assorted challenges.

The team further detailed that PTM Mandi Bahauddin aided 201 victims of social insecurity and processed 432 character certificates, 124 missing reports, 35 crime reports, and furnished 14 individuals with copies of FIRs, among other services. Assistance extended to specific demographic groups, which includes 38 individuals from the transgender community, 29 homeless children, and 38 drug addicts, comprised various facilities and treatments. Moreover, the PTM provided assistance to 61 hearing and speech-impaired persons, referred 38 individuals to old age homes, and facilitated the treatment of 21 mentally handicapped persons. The head of the protection center acknowledged that the number of citizens deriving benefits from PTM Mandi Bahauddin is on a consistent rise.

Dr. Usman Anwar, IG Punjab, expressed appreciation for the performance of PTM Mandi Bahauddin and underscored the vital role it plays in providing social security to an increasing number of citizens grappling with issues, placing special emphasis on assisting women experiencing domestic violence and social challenges, the elderly, the transgender community, and homeless children. He instructed District Police Officers (DPOs) to closely oversee the performance of Police Tahaffuz Marakaz, enhancing networking and coordination with other departments. Additionally, Dr. Anwar met with the staff of Police Tahaffuz Marakaz, victim support officers, beneficiaries, and members of the transgender community. AIG Admin Amara Athar, along with other officers, was also present during the event.
