Lahore, 11 Oct 2023:In a move aimed at solving the persistent accommodation issues for police officers and employees traveling to Lahore from other districts for official duties, Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has inaugurated police lodges named “Sar-e-rah” at Qila Gujar Singh Police Station. The lodges, located on the upper floor of the station, provide a temporary residence for police officers and officials visiting from other cities, and are equipped with modern facilities, including dedicated arrangements for women police officers and personnel.
During a visit to “Sar-e-rah” yesterday, alongside Additional IG Punjab Sultan Chaudhry and Additional IG Welfare Riaz Nazir Gara, Dr. Usman Anwar was briefed by AIG Admin Amara Athar regarding the available facilities in the lodges. The IG Punjab underscored that officers and officials visiting from distant cities for matters such as High Court appearances or other professional engagements will utilize the official residence. The “Sar-e-rah” lodges are also furnished with all requisite facilities for office affairs, including computer systems, printers, and fax machines, ensuring that visiting personnel can conduct their official business without disruption.
Highlighting the significance of “Sar-e-rah”, IG Punjab stated that it has successfully addressed a longstanding accommodation issue for officers and officials when in Lahore – prior to its establishment, officials, especially those from distant districts like Rahim Yar Khan, encountered considerable difficulties when required to appear before the Lahore High Court. Dr. Usman Anwar mentioned that obstacles such as late-night arrivals, inclement weather, and the lack of early morning facilities previously posed challenges in the professional affairs of officers and officials. He also emphasized that the Punjab Police executed this project using its departmental funds without resorting to government grants, ensuring the standard of facilities at the residence are on par with international hotels. The lodges can be booked by police officers through a mobile application, with the quality of facilities being maintained through an effective management and monitoring system.
