Srinagar, 11 Oct 2023:Stringent restrictions were enforced in Srinagar and adjoining areas of occupied Jammu and Kashmir during the visit of Indian President Draupadi Murmu, according to Kashmir Media Service. A multi-tier security grid was implemented and surprise inspections of vehicles and pedestrians were conducted in Srinagar and surrounding areas. The measures, which included sealing all four entries to the University of Kashmir where Murmu attended a function, drew criticism from political experts, who invoked Modi’s ‘all is well’ mantra and emphasized the urgent need for a resolution to the Kashmir dispute to prevent South Asia from a catastrophic situation akin to the Middle East.
