Islamabad: The Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced that the government is implementing comprehensive measures to enhance women’s participation in national development through increased opportunities across multiple sectors.
According to Radio Pakistan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja addressed a ceremony in Islamabad, emphasizing that women, who make up nearly fifty percent of Pakistan’s population, are crucial to sustainable economic growth. She highlighted that Pakistan stands out as one of the few countries with a female-led IT Ministry, showcasing the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and leadership.
The Minister outlined ongoing reforms and initiatives designed to empower women in the IT sector, acknowledging their talent and proven track record in assuming responsibilities. She noted the success of women in e-commerce, which has broadened their global market access and opened new avenues for business and employment.
Additionally, Shaza Fatima Khawaja stressed the government’s efforts to dismantle barriers hindering women’s development, with a focus on integrating women from underprivileged areas into the mainstream economy. She cited female entrepreneurship success stories as evidence of women’s potential to excel when given equal opportunities. The Ramadan Package distribution via digital wallets was also mentioned as a step toward promoting financial inclusion and enhancing system transparency for women.
