Global Financial Leaders Show Confidence in Pakistan’s Economic Reforms


LONDON: Leading global financial institutions have expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic reforms and affirmed their commitment to enhanced engagement with the country’s financial sector. This sentiment was conveyed during meetings between senior executives from Barclays, J.P. Morgan, Citi, BlackRock, and Rothschild & Co with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in London.



According to Radio Pakistan, the engagements demonstrated a growing interest from the international financial sector in Pakistan’s economic trajectory and investment climate. The Prime Minister discussed various aspects of economic collaboration with each institution, highlighting opportunities for deepened partnerships.



Mohammad Kamal Syed from Barclays expressed the bank’s interest in Pakistan, receiving a briefing from the Prime Minister on macroeconomic stabilization efforts. J.P. Morgan’s Matthieu Wiltz discussed expanding the firm’s presence in capital markets and corporate banking. Citi’s David Livingstone was encouraged to enhance the bank’s corporate services in Pakistan.



BlackRock representatives, including Gordon Fraser and Emily Fletcher, were invited to increase investments in Pakistani equities and fixed income. Discussions with Rothschild & Co focused on potential advisory roles in Pakistan’s capital markets and investment strategies.



These meetings underscore the positive reception of Pakistan’s reform program among global financial leaders and represent a strategic effort by the government to boost international investor confidence and attract long-term capital inflows.
