Moscow: Ambassador of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, participated in the International Business Trends Forum 2026, hosted by MGIMO University. The event focused on technological development, emerging markets, and international economic cooperation, featuring senior officials, diplomats, academics, and business leaders.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Tirmizi underscored the significance of evolving global trade patterns and the necessity for enhanced regional connectivity. He highlighted visa facilitation, direct air connectivity, and efficient logistics as vital components for bolstering Pakistan-Russia trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Ambassador also emphasized the role of regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, SAARC, and the Economic Cooperation Organization in fostering trade and regional integration. He advocated for leveraging these platforms to enhance transport and logistics linkages across South Asia, Central Asia, and the broader Eurasian region.

Ambassador Tirmizi described Pakistan as a crucial connector between Central Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East, citing its strategic location for regional trade routes. He noted the demographic potential of Pakistan, with 68 percent of its population under 30, presenting both opportunities and responsibilities for economic growth.

He highlighted the importance of integrating business and science to drive innovation. Referring to Pakistan-Russia relations, he pointed to ongoing high-level engagement, including the upcoming visit of the Russian Interior Minister to Pakistan. On the forum’s sidelines, Ambassador Tirmizi engaged with various stakeholders, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Russia and enhancing regional economic cooperation.
