Islamabad: Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, stating that any disruptions from Afghanistan will be met with a response. This declaration comes amidst ongoing tensions between the two countries.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar addressed a seminar titled “Afghan Predicament and the Trajectory to Peace” in Islamabad, where he outlined Pakistan’s position on maintaining peace through negotiations with Afghanistan. He expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of willingness from the Afghan side to achieve peace.

The minister highlighted the presence of safe havens for terrorists in Afghanistan, emphasizing Pakistan’s concerns over the use of Afghan territory for attacks against it. He noted that Pakistan has conducted retaliatory strikes in response to these threats, underscoring the importance of moving away from a militant mindset within the Afghan interim government.

Tarar also discussed the potential for increased regional trade if peace is established in Afghanistan, suggesting that stability could lead to greater prosperity. He concluded by advocating for a better future for the Afghan people, emphasizing the need for internal consensus and the protection of basic rights.
