Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has advocated for the enhancement of Pakistan-Australia relations, emphasizing the importance of bolstering parliamentary exchanges, trade, investment, education, defense cooperation, and fostering stronger people-to-people contacts.
According to Radio Pakistan, Gilani conveyed these sentiments during a meeting with the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Timothy Kane, held in Islamabad. The Chairman underlined the significance Pakistan places on its longstanding and amicable relationship with Australia, highlighting the shared democratic values and robust interpersonal connections that bind the two nations.
Gilani acknowledged Australia’s contributions to Pakistan’s development, particularly in the spheres of education and human resource advancement. He also recognized the significant role that the Pakistani diaspora plays in Australia’s social and economic spheres. In response, the Australian High Commissioner expressed Australia’s interest in further enhancing bilateral and parliamentary cooperation with Pakistan.
