ISLAMABAD: Amid efforts to maintain public safety and reduce crime, the Islamabad Police have arrested 498 individuals over the past two weeks in a crackdown on criminal activities, including drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession. The operations, directed by Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Captain (R) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, have focused on ensuring a non-discriminatory approach to law enforcement.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the intensified operations led to the arrest of 73 individuals involved in drug peddling, with significant quantities of illicit substances, including hashish, heroin, ice, and liquor, seized. Additionally, the crackdown on illegal weapons resulted in the arrest of 111 individuals and the recovery of various firearms and weapons.
As part of the ongoing campaign, 314 proclaimed offenders, habitual offenders, and court absconders were apprehended. The police conducted 114 grand combing and search operations across the capital, checking thousands of individuals, residences, and vehicles to ensure security and order.
DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem highlighted the commitment of Islamabad Police to utilizing all resources to safeguard citizens’ lives and property. He emphasized that the crackdown against all forms of criminal activity would persist, with measures being enhanced to foster a secure environment in the city.
