BAJAUR: The escalation of attacks by Fitna al-Khwarij on civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to raise concerns, as recent incidents highlight the ongoing threat to the region’s stability. A quadcopter attack on a cricket ground in Bajaur’s Mamund area injured three individuals, who were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to Radio Pakistan, a press release from the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur district reported that mortar shells were fired from across the border, affecting various areas, particularly Mamund and Salarzai, during March and April. The violence resulted in the deaths of nine civilians, including three women and six children, due to the Afghan Taliban’s assaults on the local population.
Fitna al-Khawarij has increasingly employed quadcopters to target civilians, aiming to instill fear and terror. Video evidence substantiates these tactics. Experts indicate that the group focuses on unarmed civilians as they are unable to confront security forces directly. This ongoing violence has reportedly deepened public resentment towards the group.
In response, security forces are actively retaliating against the attacks from Fitna al-Khawarij and the Afghan Taliban regime. Experts note that Pakistan’s security operations are concentrated on the positions and infrastructure associated with the aggressors.
