ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police has conducted 685 search and combing operations over the first four months of 2026, intensifying efforts to control crime and target criminal activity within the federal capital.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, under the direction of Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, these operations were part of a strategic initiative to enhance security. Supervised by SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, and monitored by zonal SPs, the operations involved thorough checks on 65,581 individuals, 28,603 households, and numerous commercial establishments, including 2,596 hotels and 7,688 shops. Authorities also examined 22,595 motorcycles and 8,034 vehicles, leading to further verification of 370 Afghan nationals, 3,348 suspicious individuals, 2,025 motorcycles, and 113 vehicles.
During these operations, several arrests were made involving suspects in drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession. Confiscated items included seven kilograms of hashish, six kilograms of heroin, five kilograms of ice, 87 bottles of alcohol, six daggers, 12 Kalashnikovs, 11 rifles, 68 pistols, and 3,334 rounds of ammunition.
SSP Operations emphasized that these efforts aim to tighten security and address criminal activities comprehensively across the city. The operations will continue as Islamabad Police commits to taking action against criminal elements, land grabbers, and drug dealers.
