Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with a delegation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) to discuss ongoing efforts to modernize Pakistan’s tax administration system. The meeting focused on reforms aimed at improving transparency and facilitating taxpayers through technological advancements.
According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration with professional bodies and industry stakeholders to ensure that tax policies are both practical and aligned with national reform goals. He highlighted the Government’s initiatives to simplify processes and enhance automation to reduce unnecessary human intervention in tax administration.
The Finance Minister also discussed the role of technology in strengthening compliance and revenue administration, noting that AI-driven mechanisms are improving documentation and reducing system leakages. The ICAP delegation presented various proposals, focusing on documentation, group taxation, and harmonization of tax treatment across sectors to support investment and economic growth.
The Finance Minister acknowledged these proposals and assured that they would be considered in the budget formulation process. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to fostering a tax system that encourages documentation and strengthens governance. The ICAP delegation was led by Mr. Samiullah Siddiqui, President ICAP, and included key members of the organization.
