President Zardari Asserts Readiness of Armed Forces at Anniversary Ceremony


ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari affirmed the readiness of Pakistan’s people and armed forces to defend the country against any challenges. His remarks came during a ceremony commemorating the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos at the Pakistan Monument.



According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s response to what he described as India’s unprovoked aggression in May of the previous year. He noted that this response has become a key chapter in world history, elevating national pride and dignity on an international scale. The President emphasized that the victory in Marka-e-Haq was not solely a military achievement but also a testament to the unity of the Pakistani nation.



President Zardari also spoke on Pakistan’s mediatory efforts in the Iran-US conflict, which he said were recognized globally for preventing a broader conflict. On the topic of terrorism, he pointed to what he described as Indian-sponsored terrorism through Afghanistan and urged Afghanistan not to allow its territory to be used against Pakistan.



Further, President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, advocating for a swift resolution to the Kashmir dispute to ensure regional peace. He also restated Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, supporting their right to an independent state with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital.



The ceremony also saw attendance from key military figures, including Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf. The event featured a march past by contingents of the three armed forces, showcasing their discipline and readiness.
